Hi again Lary,
Sorry to be such a pill, but I did it all this time following your
directions step by step. The only problem was that after rebooting
and plugging in the usb and turning on the scanner I didn't get any
message from the hardware wizzard. I wonder if that means that it
didn't get completely uninstalled. So I just went to where the new
driver was and it installed but with the same results in that when I
try to scan in Kurzweil it says no scanner detected and when I look
where scanners are listed it just says plustec3600 twain with no
other choices by arrowing. I really appreciate you guys help. Maybe
there is something wrong with my setup here at this end. It's been
working fine for a couple years until I tried to upgrade the drivers.
Thanks so much and if you have any other ideas I would appreciate them
Bud

Bud, Do the following.
1. un-install the plustech software.
2. turn off and unplug the scanner from the usb.
3. re-boot
4. re-plug the scanner to the usb and turn it on. The "new
hardware" wizzard should find it and ask you what you want to do.
5. select the option which lets you find the drivers yourself.
6. point the wizzard to the foldure where you unzipped the driver package.
7. next your way through the wizzard till it completes. You might
want to re-boot again for good measure.
8. Open k1000 and point the scanner source to wia. Hope that it works.

Subject: still having trouble installing 3600
Hi to Lary and Mary and all you good guys who answered my plea. I
tried everything again and still have the same results. Let me
tell you briefly what I did. In the start menu I found uninstall
for plustic 3600 and uninstalled it. Then I rebooted. Actually I
had the scanner plugged in and connected while uninstallling, is
this wrong? Then I clicked on the driver download and it opened up
to about 20 files, one of which was install.exe which I entered
on. Then it seemed to go through the usual process of installing
with the only question of where I wanted it to be installed to.
Then it asked if I wanted to reboot and I clicked on it and it
rebooted. Now it looks like the files are all there but when I go
into k1000 and look where scanners are listed it says plustec 3600
twain and arrowing doesn't bring up any other choices. If I press
the scanner key it says it can't detect a scanner. Any
thoughts? Apparently I'm doing something wrong but can't figure it
out. Sorry for the length of this but I wanted it to be clear on
all the steps I took.
Thanks for bearing with me.
