Hi Raul,

Thanks for this info, I will be sure to pass it along when I write to them.
I would like to provide them with as much info when I write and
unfortunately I'm not a web development expert. Let me try to be more
specific and if you have free time on your hands and feel like checking this
out, these are the problems I am having and if you understand what's going
on better than I do I'd love to know what I can tell them.

Firstly, there are various parts of facebook that allow you to leave
comments on a person's status, stories, photos etc. The option to leave a
comment apparently is supposed to be an onclick or a link of some kind from
what I can tell, but Window-Eyes does not recognize them as any type of
control. Rather, they simply show up as static text inside of browse mode.
In order to leave a comment you must get the mouse pointer to that text by
whatever means, left click, then manually refresh browse mode to see the new
content. This is doable, and I have been doing it this way in fact for a
while now, but it is quite annoying. A similar problem shows up with lots
of other options in facebook. For example, if you are looking at your own
profile, there is a "wall" that you or anyone else can write stories or
comments to. Each story has an edit button next to it. When you click this
edit button you are presented with more options such as delete the post,
show the full post etc. Just like the comment buttons, these edit buttons
are shown as static text in the browse mode buffer. If I use firefox, WE
doesn't even seem to see these edit buttons at all, only if I am using IE.
So, if I want to do any kind of editing of my wall postings, I really have
no choice but to use IE. There is in fact, lots of portions of the web page
that are seemingly hidden when I use firefox but I see when using IE. I get
the feeling like IE is even displaying some things to Window-Eyes that are
supposed to be hidden, but maybe they are not hiding the content correctly.

When I disable javascript things start reading better, but facebook is
pretty much useless without javascript. Yes, they have an html only version
for mobile devices, but it is a stripped down version of the full site. It
is good for sending messages and the like, but does not, as far as I can
tell allow access to more advanced options such as 3rd party facebook
applications.

Thanks much.

-Cory

I confess that I have not explored all its features so I'm not sure what
you are referring to. As for making a web site more accessible. We
usually like to point web masters, developers, ETC to
www.gwmicro.com/developers where they can get a lot of useful
information. The more people write, the better it may be for everyone in
general.

many thanks.
