For all those who would like to know,
It's an attempt by google gmail to update mail to the modern world.
It's email like you already use and understand but, a new twist!
Instead of different folders for your email think about labeling any
messages and then being able to list / find them by the labels.
You can give labels to threads senders from your contacts and more.
In other words putting a database behind your email messages ... allowing
you to search / organize them as you wish.
that's google gmail now.
Now for the new twist of google wave?Think of IM instant messaging and mail
together.
Now add facebook, twitter and more to the mix on the fly!
If I am part of a group that you are sending a response message to ... I can
see in real time that you are typing the message.
I can tell if you are on line like an im client will do and I can employ the
social networking tools face book, twitter and more on the fly.
Meaning I can tweet the info from the message to my twitter feed / maybe
even feed the info to an rss feed and more.
We don't even know how powerful it will be yet because it's just getting
started.
As with google it's going to be a beta.
We now live and run our software in constant betas.
It's all in the cloud meaing computing over the internet and maybe even tie
the google docs / spreadsheets and more in to the mix.
Meaning I may be able to use any of my docs / sptreadsheets to be updated by
teams of people ... the ideas are endless.
I haven't even done the technology justice but, this may give you an idea.
Last ... remember that the second ... it's available people are adding more
uses for it.
I like a certain radio show and am listening to the archive.
You see that I am online.
You follow my twitter feed and like to know what I am doing.
What if I don't mind you know what I am doing so you click and start
hearing the same radio archive I am listening to automatically.
Then you tweet that you are doing this and others atart listening.
Then if a doc in some ones google docs way down the line is a news article
on what the radio show is about ... what if they tweet that to others or
send a wave google mail about a news story / google doc that verifies the
info to the complete group.
Then we start to have a blog / comments on the radio show / article im
discussion on the fly?
What if then some one starts to archive the complete thread with radio,
blog, im, email, wave, and other technologies on there facebook account?
then they decide to take all the info and post it to a video on youtube?
The technology will get smarter and smarter and have more and more automated
tasks and interactions between computers and people.
Then what if I want to perform a google search on the general topics that
have ben discussed?
Hope this helps.
Sam

Interesting, but would have been nice to have a very brief explanation of
what
Google Wave is.
Well, having of course Googled for this I get, in part:
"... it began with the question "What might e-mail look like if it were
invented today?" ... " Which I take to mean a radical overhaul of email
on
the web.
more at:

As has been said, if Google Mail as is now could be made that much more
easily
usable, well, that would be a good thing we could have right now.
