Peggy,
Do the following, and I wager you'll be back in business:
1. Open Window-Eyes, select the Global menu, and press Enter on the
"Menu level" item. By default, it's set at beginner. Arrow down twice to
change this back to advanced. You will now see set file associations as
well as the entire Window-Eyes menu structure.
2. Also from within Window-Eyes, go to File, Manage Scripts and Sets,
Set File Manager. Press "O" until you hear "Office" and/or "Outlook
Express" (depending on which Email client you're using), and press Alt-I
to install it.
Restart the client, and you should be set.
Regards,
Steve

Hi, all. I think Steve was on the right track with my WE and netbook
problem, when he mentioned the Homer Layout script. I'd gotten it
when I first installed WE, because it sounded close to Homer Shared
Objects, or whatever it's called, so I thought maybe I was supposed to
have both. But I remember talking about how my insert t to tell the
time didn't work, and I had to hit enter on WE's standard layout to
get it to work, and then other things worked weirdly, culminating in
the arrows and hotkeys problems on the web and in Outlook Express.
I tried to find where to copy the default folder, per Steve's
recommendation, but I think my netbook must have that unavailable to
users, because I never could get there, whether with run or find or
anything. So tonight I finally uninstalled my Window-Eyes, and we
re-installed my 7.1 version. Now the arrow keys and the context menu
and the hotkeys on the web all work like they should. The only thing
that's different is that when I write a message or reply to one, WE
doesn't read the to, cc, bcc, etc. Fortunately, I know what those are
supposed to be, so for now I can live with that, though I'd eventually
like to get it to read them again. And when I tab to it, it still
says "Window-Eyes", without saying any set files are active or
associated. I don't know why they wouldn't automatically be
associated, like they are on my big 'puter. Maybe things work
differently on a netbook? And the updater keeps telling me 7.11 is
available, but I'm a bit scared to update, lest something break
again. But if it truly was the Homer Layout thing, maybe I should
just bite the bullet and do it. But what if it was the 7.11 upgrade
on my netbook? I think I'll have to get up my courage for that one.
So I'm on the way to recovery. Now, maybe with some tweaking and
learning to associate things, the netbook will eventually read as well
as the desktop.
Thanks, all, for your help.
