Hello stacey, and welcome to the list.

I think the echoing of letters before speaking of a desktop icon is down to
keyboard voice being on and I can't find any way of silencing this being
spoken unless the keyboard voice is turned off, which you wouldn't want.
Maybe someone else knows the answer.

I can answer the laptop keyboard question. the part of the manual you are
after is under appendix A Hot keys quick reference guide. open out that item
with right arrow key and go down to keyboard layouts. the three keyboard
layouts for w-e are under that section. Pressing enter loads the page which
and pressing F6 enables browse mode to look at the table. Here's a problem
though; if you're not used to W-E table commands then it might be a little
difficult to navigate.

Wish I could point you to a text file for this which would give you less grief
as a new comer to W-E. Maybe someone else will address that.

Hello, I am Stacey Robinson. I'm new to the list.
I'm a jaws user but trying very hard to learn window eeyes. I've been using
the latest demo. 7.11 I think.
I've got my syncbraille 20 up and running. I've also gotten most of the voice
settings the way I like them. I've chosen to have words announced as I type
them.
When I am on the desktop and I press o for outlook express, WE says o before
saying outlook express. What setting can I change so I do not hear letters
before the names of icons? Also, how do I change this?
My menus are at the beginner level right now. I've also downloaded and am
slowly going through the tutorial that was on the gw website.
One final question, I have the latest manual on my voice sense in text and
would like to read about the laptop layout and what keys are used for various
commands. I couldn't find a laptop section in the manual. Where would I look
for that?
Thanks so much.

Have a blessed day,
