I have not stepped into the world of a digital stand alone talking book player yet. This is because I am using the Maestro from Humanware. Neither option available, BookSense, Victor Stream, or PlexTalk Pocket provide enough significant advantages for me to take the step.
If I did take the plunge, right now the BookSense is the way I would go. The reasons are: it comes with a clock with reminders and HIM is the only company that replied to me saying that they are seriously considering supporting DRM, digital rights management. I enjoy getting books from NetLibrary and I like using the OverDrive software to access their audio content. Although the BookSense is running on top of a Windows based OS I am willing to put up with the occasional lock up as long as I have a player that supports DRM and comes with a clock with alarms.
