Hi David, yes, I have, and others have reported it, but we all thought it was a vista or windows 7 issue. so, I have written a script to fix it called "vista". while the script fixes other vista minor issues, it primarily handles this windows explorer weird issue. There's no test in the script to see if you're running vista or windows 7, so why don't you download the script and try it, and see if it fixes this problem. please let us know here on the list, and if it does I'll separate out the fix for this issue from the other vista fixes, and republish the script under a name like "windows explorer fix" or something, so everyone will know to try it. I guess it's caused by some update MS has pushed out to all of us. the other fixes in the script for vista issues just won't effect you when running under windows xp. hth, Chip
_____ From: David [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, December 25, 2009 4:41 PM To: WE English mailing list Subject: Windows Explorer on a HP laptop I have - for some time - had a funny behavior in Windows Explorer on my HP Laptop. It is running Win XP PRO, all updates installed, WE7.11, and has been checked by Avast, Super-AntiSpyware and Advanced Windows Care. Still this behavior persists. Whenever I open Explorer, the focus, is not on the item list. I have to press TAB to get to the item list, where I can choose my folders, files etc. If I try - on my desktop pc - to open Windows Explorer, I am put directly on the item list. And that is the way, it used to be on my laptop as well. But, whatever I try to figure it out, I can't seem to find a way to have the explorer on my laptop behave :) Does anyone here, experience the same problem? Or, any good idea, that I might have overlooked? Thanks alot! If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
