Hi Rick,
Thanks for taking the time to check out the site for me. What I am
referring to is not the publisher's summary in the entry for the
book, but rather the little piece of the summary that appears in the
listing for the book in a list of multiple books. If you check out
the 'just added' section, browse by genre, or search for a book,
there is a little portion of the summary that appears either after
the link for the name of the narrator or after the link for adding
the book to your wishlist. The former is how it appears in the 'just
added' section and the latter is how it is listed when browsing
genres, authors and such and when browsing search results. It is very
convenient to be able to get that information without having to
actually enter the books own page, I use the info to add books to my
wishlist or cart without having to enter and exit a lot of individual
book listings.
I have a lot of frustration with the Audible site, it likes to load
slowly, often fails to respond to clicks on links if one has been
browsing a page for too long, and begins failing to add books to the
wishlist after more than ten minutes or so of browsing without
clicking on something, I've found that the ability to browse using
these blurbs makes the experience a lot less frustrating. I don't
know if my problems with the site are because I need more RAM,
because of latency on my connection, I have a decent DSL connection,
but nothing spectacular, but whatever the cause Audible can be
frustrating for me since I like to maintain a large wishlist and add
books to it almost daily. That said, even if I fixed the problems, I
would still like to be able to have those little summary blurbs, they
are almost always enough information for me to decide whether I want
to add the book to my wishlist, buy immediately, or skip and they
make shopping for books a lot easier. I just don't know why they
would be read by one browser and not another and why they disappeared
when I moved to IE 8.
Thanks,
Chris

Chris, I am using Firefox3.5.6 and WE 7.1.1. If you are referring to the
"Publisher's Summery" near the bottom of the page, it displays fine for me.
Just checked the Audible site to be sure I was not mistaken. This isn't much
help, but thought you might want to know that the problem was not
ubiquitous.
