Last year, when receiving my laptop, I did have to uninstall Norton. I did
try their removal tool, but found it didn't really remove all traces, and
wasn't really pleased with the whole thing. Then, a friend of mine,
suggested for me to try a removal software, which I hold was called
PC-Decrabbifier. I can look in my archives to find t the exact webpage. It
really was a dream working with, and took care of a good handful issues on
my computer. After running that one, and doing a scan on my Registry, the
whole Norton stuff was gone, and I could install my AntiVirus. Even if
Norton would prove to be somehow accessible, I would strongly suggest going
for something else. Norton is pretty hard on your resources, rather
expensive, and tends to be a bit too fuzzy about things on your system,
leaving you with a hard time of running things like script. Allright, there
is settings to be made, so as to allow that stuff, but it doesn't always
work too easily out of the box, is my experience.

I got a package HP unit for xmas which came with Norton.
My concern is have heard rumors that Norton can be quite difficult to
remove
from a system and may have to get a removal tool from Norton.
Do you have any knowledge of this?
Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim:
I can't tell you for sure whether you will be able to access Norton but
my
guess is, probably not. Amyway, I think you might be better of going
with
NOD32. It's cheaper, you can get a two-year subscription for about the
price of a one-year subscription to Norton and it won't slow down your
system. Even better, try Eset Smart Security from the same company. You
can regester for either of those at www.eset.com I have also heard good
things aboutt Microsoft Smart Security, which is free. You might want to
take into account, though, that it only protects against incoming
threats,
which is good enough for a lot of people anyway. Kevin Huber
