I can reproduce The html issue with the Progress Indicator script and have found two others. Below are the tests I have performed.
Opening an html file on my pc. I located an html file on my pc and pressed Enter. Windows Explorer announced the file couldn't be found. However, Firefox was open and the file was readable. I had to close Firefox in order to get to the offending dialog. I blocked the Progress Indicator script in Windows Explorer, but this did not change the outcome of opening the html file. Opening an xml file produced similar results. In this case, The file wasn't found, a blank Internet Explorer page was opened, and a Note Pad containing the xml file was opened. To find my file, I had to Close IE, close the dialog, and close or Alt-Tab away from Windows Explorer. As with the html file blocking Progress Indicator did not change things. Unloading the Progress Indicator script made things work as expected. The html file opened in Firefox, and the xml file appeared in IE. Suzy! The Blind Avenger! Doing everything possible to prove that blind people can. -----Original Message----- From: Steve Zielinski [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Monday, January 11, 2010 12:39 AM To: GW Micro Subject: Re: progress indicator script Just to add to Bob's message. When I attempt to load a local .html file on my computer, I get the sound out of hell, and the dialog that says internet explorer cannot locate c:\documents and settings\.... etc., etc. Make sure you have entered the url correctly and try again. Nevertheless, the html file does load and I'm able to read it. I can tab to that dialog box and click the ok button to clear it. Also, and possibly more important to know, when I attempt to open a local .rtf file, I loose speech and have to reboot. To be very specific, twice I lost speech, the tthird time I managed to get speech back. The time I managed to get speech back without a reboot was when I opened that .html file before opening the .rtf file. But in all three instances, I wasn't able to read the rtf document. My computer read the title of the doc, but that was all I could read of it. So for now I've unloaded the progress indicator script. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob Tinney" <[email protected]> To: "GW Micro" <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 10, 2010 10:25 AM Subject: progress indicator script > Hi, > > I have noticed that with version 1.7, most of the time, web pages do not > complete loading using Internet Explorer.
