Which sites is this happening at? The suggestion of auto suggest may
be your issue, but you may also be experiencing what I have been.
Auto suggest doesn't cause me a problem in the couple of pages I use
that have it, but since upgrading to Firefox 3.6 I have had some
problems return that had previously been solved by the upgrade to WE
7.11. For me, the big culprit of the sudden return of browse mode and
jump to the top of the page while typing in an edit box is Wikipedia.
It doesn't matter how long I let the page sit and finish loading, it
does this every time. If I don't type fast enough, have to backspace
to correct an error, enter a search term with a character of any
kind, or even take the time to capitolize this will happen. Also,
many pages continually jump me back to the beginning of the page
after reading a couple of paragraphs. The biggest culprits here seem
to be almost any major news site and Amazon. It has made reading news
stories truly frustrating.
You can try the solutions I have, though none of them have worked for
me except for the cut and paste method. I've installed the Firefox
Accessibility plugin and Webvisum and tried the functions to prevent
autorefreshing in both. I've increased my Firefox cache to an
absolutely insane level. Finally, the only thing that has worked with
the form problem, I've taken to trying to remember which pages have
the issue and started typing whatever I want to search into a notepad
document and cutting and pasting the search terms into the field.
