Doug, I am running a Sound Blaster Xfi Xtreme sound card in a PCI express slot with the latest drivers. The problem also existed with the on board sound which was the Realtec. What sound card do you suggest? I think it was Aaron that told me that the test bed machines you had in house had a variety of sound cards and on board sound but he would not suggest a card that may cure my problem. You tell me what I need and I will get it. I appreciate your help.

It is because you went to a different sound card. We have seen with some sound cards DECtalk can be sluggish, especially older drivers. I'm sure you've checked this out but I'll say it just in case. Make sure you are using the latest sound card driver. Or consider getting a dedicated sound card instead of using whatever came on your motherboard. 64-bit has nothing to do with it but your sound card driver has everything to do with it.
