Funny how different systems work differently. On my ThinkPad T-43 (which I use at home), using the new Eloquence patch is like a synthesizer, indeed, a system, covered in molasses. It seemed like it took nearly a full second before a keystroke would be announced. I really thought something was wrong with my computer. I switched to DecTalk Access 32 (Window-Eyes), and found instantaneous improvement. On my ThinkPad T-60, however, which presumably has a newer built-in sound card driver, Eloquence (the new Eloquence) runs fine. I don't think I see enough sound quality difference to switch back. I think I'll just stick with DecTalk at home and use Eloquence in the office.
