Here is the message I sent about office 2010. Sara ----- Original Message ----- From: Sara To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, February 27, 2010 5:16 PM Subject: Office 2010 beta works quite well thanks to features already in WE
Hi all.I installed the beta of Office 2010 because I like testing new software and my old installation wasn't working well. 1. Window-Eyes doesn't read the install progress very well. I think it still sees parts of the previous screen but a sighted person told me there was only a message about installing and no progress bar. It installed after a very long time though. 2. I loaded Word 2010 with no problems. If you press Alt+F for file, you won't be able to use the arrow keys or tab to read it but... 3. I read somewhere that there was a way to customize the ribbon and I was dying to figure it out so I could add a tab of my own favourite options. I found the info about it, but it said it was in options under that weird new Alt+F command. 4. I went there and tried the WE cursor and mouse pointer but couldn't find the options dialogue. 5. I almost gave up in disgust then... 6. I remembered a WE command that I almost never used. It's mouse search. Ctrl shift f. 7. I tried said command. Press Alt+f. Make sure you have mouse pointer active numpad minus on a desktop until you hear mouse pointer. Then press ctrl shift f. type options and hit enter. Wait until it says found and then press numpad star and there you are. 8. Got into options and found the customize ribbon option. Space bar on new tab. Selected commands, hit add, and had a ribbon full of only commands I like! 9. Thank you so much GW Micro for making as yet unsupported software work anyway because of commands already built into WE. 10. I recommend that if you are comfortable trying betas, that you take a spin of office 2010 beta. Remember to backup your system and have your old office CD around if you don't like the beta. hth Sara If you reply to this message it will be delivered to the original sender only.
