if you are useing the auto complete script this causes it too.
i staied with f f 3.5 for the same reason. 3.6 would reload the page like
with the main ebay page.
anyway wit ebay, while browse mode is still on turn off auto load with
insert a. this will stop ebay from reloading while typeing in the search
box.

I haven't found a way to solve this, but it also happens, and has been for
a while, on Wikipedia, Youtube, eBay and a lot of other sites. On some
sites, the problem is caused by an auto-complete or suggestion function
that tries to fill in suggestions while you are typing and when that is the
case, turning off the auto-complete function in the site preferences fixes
the problem, but I haven't been able to confirm whether or not this is the
cause on the other sites I mentioned nor how to turn off such a function if
it exists. So, if there is such a feature on Google Books, try turning it
off. That is the only working solution I have found so far. I've taken to
typing whatever I want to search in a notepad document and then cutting and
pasting into the search field. The problem with that solution is that it is
tedious and you have to remember to do it, I seem to forget 9 times out of
10 and end up with the usual frustrations of the bug.
