To be honest, I never use that search edit box. If I want to search for
messages I bypass then press control-shift-f and use the more advanced
but more powerful search capabilities of Thunderbird. Maybe you can give
this a try. It totally rocks.

It is on "search all messages," and thus far, I have not figured out a
