Actually, just have to second this. My 7.11, did NOT recognize the .wepm files,
either. Had to manually make them associated with Widnow-Eyes. If anyone else
is wondering how to do this, here is the way.

1. When pressing ENTER on the .wepm file, and the dialogue comes up, where it
asks whether you want windows to search on the web, or choose from a list:
Accept to choose from a list, and preess ENTER on this.
2. A list of available applications comes up. Press the W, till you hear
Window-Eyes.
3. Press the Tab key, till you get to a checkbox, saying something like: Always
use this application.
4. Make sure this Checkbox is checked.
5. Tab to the OK button, and press ENTER.
Your system hereafter will use Window-Eyes for opening/handling the .wepm files.

Not sure, but it seems GW have send out a series of copies of WE, where this
feature is not automatically implemented. I am not saying, that this has
happened intentionally, only saying, that since this has happened to several
people, something might have gone wrong on a certain amount of CDs sent out. I
did report this problem a few months ago, and back then, was told it must have
been my system, but now we have the proof, my system was not on its own, having
this 'fun'. :)

  Aaron,

I have to say, along with the original poster, I too have been unable to get
the .wepm association to work with earlier versions of window eyes. I believe
it was 7.11 I tried, under vista, and got the message that Windows didn't know
whatt to do with the file.

WEPMs have been supported by, and associated to, Window-Eyes since
scripting's inception in Window-Eyes 7.0. If, however, you use IE6, and select
to run a downloaded WEPM, it will not open automatically. This is a limitation
of IE6, not of Window-Eyes.

Hi John,

I know earlier versions of window eyes did not respond to a file with a
.wepm file extension; that is, you had to specifically open such a file with
the install script packages option.

some version recently did add the ability to automatically process a .wepm
file if you clicked on it in windows explorer; maybe it's this recent 7.2
beta. so, it could be you have a later version than your friend does, and
it does handle a .wepm file, and hers does not?

Subject: Question about sharing a script

A friend of mine is a registered user of windoweyes 7.1. I want to help her
install the killwineyes script on her laptop. I downloaded the killwineyes
and homersharedobject scripts onto my computer and sent them to her as
attachments in an e-mail message.
My friend saved the attachments. We went to the directory where she'd saved
the attachments and pressed enter on the files. The computer then said it
couldn't find how to open the program and asked if we wanted to use web
services or a list of programs to open the program. Obviously, I'd done
something wrong.
Interestingly, yesterday I downloaded the whether script from script
central, saved it into a directory on my computer and then pressed enter on
the file -- it ran and installed.
What did I do wrong?
If I want to help a friend install a script, is the only way to do it to
actually download it onto her computer from the gw website, then run the
program?
Thanks.
