A colleague has recently sent me a script he created and posted on scriptcentral in December of 2009. When run, the script causes a Braille display to "autoscroll" -- move from line to line automaticallly. The autoscroll rate can be increased or decreased with a keystroke while reading and the script can be edited to change the default autoscroll rate. My colleague freely admits that the script could be improved, especially with how it interacts with MS word documents. As someone who uses a Braille display at work and is planning to use one at home, this seems like a great script -- it means the user doesn't have to manually move down a line at a time. My colleague has given me permission to send the script to whomever is interested in hopes that they can use it and, even better, that they will improve it and it will be posted to Scriptcentral as a Windoweyes script. It works with the 20-cell SynchBraille and I'm sure other displays. Is anyone interested in this script? If so, please e-mail me off-list. I hope someone takes up the challenge, as my limited experience with Braille displays tells me that the ability to autoscroll would be a wonderful thing!! Thanks.
