This has been a problem with W E ever since I got it a year ago, and it drives me absolutely crazy sometimes. Basically, W E and edit boxes hardly ever get along, and I'm pretty surprised that such a basic control has so many flaws in this commercial screen reader. You're correct, it makes editing really, really time consuming. "The competition" does a lot better with edit boxes, and there's no reason W E shouldn't accurately support them. When I used to be a JAWS user, I never had problems like this...ever.
