No, there ain't any access to bios.
Well, there used to be a rigged up thing if you want to use another machine,
and a telecomm program, and if the bios is text
based, it can take the text output but that company is out of business.
That requires two machines, and running dos, and it's not that great.
As far as accessing at dos level, ;you certainly
can do that, and it's still very useful to teching.
Yeh, even in the modern windows world, ms dos is
still very handy for some tasks, and barring
that, some flavors of linux, because as I've said
over and over again, we really don't have true
access to windows because we don't have access to
all levels of it, not the console mode, or safe
mode, so it's not completely accessible.
We can't use the standard tools sighted users use
to get out of trouble lower down, so we have to rig our own.
I bellieve Randy is still selling doubletalks over at rcsys.com
He's dropped the price, they're a little less
well made than they used to be, but they're worth
having if you want to do your own teching, and wwant some low level access.

Is there a unit with usb input to a laptop and seriel into a device like
doubletalk that lets you access BIOS with speech? And low end dos? If so,
can you provide a link to such a device? So we can have a look at it.
Take care

No, the doubletalk pc was an isa card,
laptops do not have these legacy card slots.
YOu would need a doubletalk lt or other serial or usb interfaced device.
