To off list listeners,
What is the best way of learning a foreign language being blind?
I've been at NLS doing a search to sfee a learning spanish braille
book and just now did a quick cursory glance at the books online via
Google search. I think in the case of being blind, its harder knowing
where and how to use materials cause most things are trailored toward
visual learning styles not audio or tactical learning ways as they are
a given being sighted not blind like us. So, looking into the
different strategies n learning how to speak, write and read in
another language for everyday use and how to learn in a roughly
affordable way would be nice to learn from differnt prospectives in
this matter. Being blind using technologies and strategies with
methods for your own individual experience would be quite helpful
especially with limitations via Window-Eyes and how to get around your
personal difficulties would also be helpful as well. Maybe a course or
two in college but those color books or play books rather are annoying
as hell.I am trying to learn spanish for communication purposes cause
I attend a catholic church and would like to communicate with them and
all as well. Eventually I'd like to go to the Vatican just o be there
and learnign spanish turning that into itallian might be worth looking
into being blind. Thanks for any and all help in this matter. By the
way, I think all americans should learn a foreign language to be more
culturally aware outside of our little isolated boxes and learn from
one anoher to encourage diversity and to appreciate life the way God
intended on it being not as we want life to be.
God bless,
