Hello,

On a fluke yesterday, I changed from my normal Windows High Contrast color
scheme into a normal option (Rainy Day, in this case) and happened to
notice something I found surprising. I wonder if anyone can explain this
to me.

When in the Rainy Day color scheme (and, yes, I tried it with a couple
other schemes) I found that Window Eyes read a couple things differently.
Let me start by saying that the size of fonts and graphics did not appear
different between the High Contrast #1 scheme and the Rainy Day scheme,
but I cannot say for sure that this was not different.

When reading in two different IBM products (Lotus Notes and Lotus
Sametime) I found that Window Eyes did not read certain elements when in
one color scheme as opposed to the other.
In Lotus Notes 6.5, when I normally go up and down my inbox, I do not hear
an indication as to whether my message is read or unread. There is a
small star graphic in the far left of the view panel that indicates this
(and I also hear the font color changes). In my normal High Contrast #1
scheme, the star icon is there, but I never really thought about the fact
that WE wasn't reading it. When I happened to be in Rainy Day colors
yesterday, I suddenly noted that WE was saying "unread" before each unread
message as I arrowed up and down the inbox. Changed the scheme back to
High Contrast and it stopped saying "unread".

In Lotus Sametime (my instant message client here at work), I labeled the
graphics recently that tell me if someone's status is active, busy, and so
on. This works find when I'm in High Contrast color scheme, but I noted
that the icons do not read aloud when I'm in Rainy Day or another color
scheme. I do not believe the color scheme change impacts the color of the
icons, as the color of them is partly what indicates the status.

Any ideas why changing the color scheme would impact when WE reads or does
not read the icons? I might like to figure out how to get WE to start
saying read and unread in my inbox in particular. Glare is an issue on my
eyes, so I rarely use a color scheme with dark text on a light background,
but occasionally it is necessary.
