Hi Bud,

well, when you're pressing the space bar to start or stop the recording,
you're counting on having your focus be on the start/stop button, and the
space bar is acting like a mouse click for you. If something happens to
change your focus during the recording (maybe you bump the mouse, or maybe
some software popups up a window and gives itself the focus), then you can't
press the spacebar and have it stop the recording.

total recorder has a way to have global hotkeys defined for functions such
as start, stop, and pause the recording. It would be much more reliable if
you used one of these hotkeys from TR. I don't know what they are, or if
they are enabled by default. there is a total recorder mailing list where
you can ask if you can't figure it out from the documentation.

as for starting up window eyes with the hotkey for it's shortcut, I have
found it works much more reliably if I minimize all windows first, so I end
up on the desktop, when I press the control-alt-w hotkey to start it. You
can do this with the windows+m or windows+d shortcut keys. I press one of
them first, then the control-alt-w.

hth,

Chip

Subject: two problems with WE and total recorder

Hi Gang,

as the subject line says, two problems. When trying to record a cassette
onto the hard drive with Total Recorder I silence WE first and then just
press spacebar to get the recording started. When it's finished I press
spacebar again to stop recording, but here lately it doesn't seem to stop
the recording process. Then the windoweyes problem is that often when I
press control alt W windoweyes doesn't come back on so I don't know what's
going on. I can't seem to do anything to get windoweyes going short of
rebooting and of course I lose all that I had done. That's not very clear
but I hope there are some total recorder users out there that may have some
ideas.
Thanks so much.
