this is the issue with blank or dim screens.
There is a security issue with the new Vista and Windows 7 computers and
you must disable it.
So, this is how you fix the problem:
UAC or User Account Control under Microsoft Windows Vista or Windows 7 dim or
black
out the screen as a part of their "Secure Desktop" option in order to hinder
access
to any critical OS level programs or functionality. This security behavior is
annoying
as the dimming of screen is not done gradually but in a jolting
fashion
. While the security that this feature provides is undebatable, some users may
feel
that the tradeoff between an insecure desktop and a more pleasant user
experience
may be worthwhile. Here's how you can totally remove the screen dimming feature
of
Win Vista or Win 7.
Instructions
1
Click on start button and type in "security" in the search edit box.
2
Click on the first search result titled "Local Security Policy".
3
On the left hand side panel of the Local Security Policy window, double click on
"Local Policies" and then on "Security Options". On the right hand side panel,
scroll
down to "User Account Control: Switch to the secure desktop when prompting for
elevation"
which is the second policy from the bottom on Windows 7. Double click on this
and
select "Disabled" radio button on the pop up window. Click on "OK" and then
close
all open windows.

sometimes my vista basic boots to a black screen. i have to reboot the computer
to get the screen back. i don't think this is a w e 7.2 problem. i can unload w
e and the screen will stay black until i reboot. it only happens about 2 times
per month.
the faded screen with windows 7 is a setting somewhere. i found it once and
disabled it but i can't find it now.
win 7 has a option to dim the screen when you are in a dimmed room. i don't
know how it does this. my computer does not have any kind of light sensor in
it. but half the time the screen would be very dim in a bright room.
they call this a feature?
once i disabled this function it stays at full brightness now.

Subject: blank screen, yes or no
Well, I have a new computer with windows 7 and running win eyes 7.2.
Has anybody heard of this problem with win eyes.
The chap who set up my computer said that gw micro has a problem that they
don't know how to fix.
Since I am blind and of course cannot see the screen, my screen comes up
faded.
He said some screens come up blank. No problem for us, but, sure a problem
if you want help from a sighted friend.
This guy is no dummy. He has 20 years of computer knowledge and works for
our government when providing assistance for us blind individuals when
purchasing computers.
He said it is better to load windows 7 but, do a manual start for win eyes.
Ok, true or false.
He said he talked to gw even recently and they don't know what the problem is.
This is not a complaint yet, but, I have never heard of this.
Would gw please respond to this.
