So Chip
Your last answer got me thinking...
Would it be better to stick with W-E 7.2 on a pentium 4 xp machine with
1.5 gig of ram?
I imagine my 64-bit Vista machine with 4 gig of ram should do okay with
7.5 when the time comes?
I'm not upgrading yet. I'll let you all have fun beta testing.

Thanks

Hi Nimer,
Karen is right about the RAM; 512 is hardly enough for the programs
themselves, much less a screen reader and a software synthesizer.
the answer as to why 7.5 might be different: it might be a larger program,
using more memory than 7.2. and so, windows may have to hit the swap file
more often.
your other question as to why other users are reporting this is more valid.

Hello,
Why would it be more sluggish because of 512 MB of Ram on 7.5 when it wasn't
on 7.2 and why have other users reported this? Grr!!

Hello,
I'm no geek but I do know that 512 mb of RAM won't cut it these days.
It sounds to me like you need more RAM. Isn't the recommendation at
least 1 gb if not 2 gb or RAM these days?

Subject: 7.5 beta 1 sluggish when moving through list boxes
Hi,
Made no changes since I installed the beta but I find it sluggish when
moving through list boxes such as windows explorer and the index of
outlook express messages. Sometimes it takes almost a half second to
voice the new position.
I'm using windows xp sp3, 512 mega bytes ram, (maybe a little more as
I think I had a little more put in), the Reed setting for eloquence is
the voice. BTW, I changed to the gw voice an no appreciable change.
Also, as I review this message, it seems a little sluggish when
arrowing up and down through this message. Compared to 7.2 there is
definately a sluggishness creeping in, especially in listboxes and the
index of email messages.
