Most companies that have support lists do not allow off topic posts, let
alone allow then to ramble on. A support list has one purpose...support for
a given product. They also would not allow the editorializing that goes on
here.
So what some seem to suggest is, join twitter or whatever, in order to
get all the information. So, the more email support lists one is on, the
more traffic increases exponentially. I realize that some people have all
day to handle this. But most dont.
Those who work and do email that is not job related are doing the same
thing as employees sitting with a newspaper in hand during their shift and
browsing the ads looking for deals and making phone calls to check inventory
for these deals.

Robert as a consumer the beauty of lists like this is you aren't
solely reliant on the company to give you the "latest information. It's
like doing sweepstakes. Someone on a list tells me here's a really great
give-away or a one timeentry sweepstakes that has very few entries hurry
over and check it out before the deadline.
I don't have to read the morning paper because Robert just told me gw
tweeted about windows service pack 7. Now I can quickly rush over anc
check out the page--Oh no I can'tI'm at work my boss may fire me.
I can then write Robert a note and say could you cut and paste that tweet
and send it to me I just bought windows 7 and want to know about it or
sumarize what it said?
Also some companies don't take to kindly to employees sitting arround
reading personal emails while at work either or talking on cell phones in
their cubicle so if I only get my information at the workplace I might
need to save a little money so I can access at home or go to a computer
cafe or something.
Guess we can hold a large protest or just join a union.
lol just kidding.
but seriously it's not about cheating the consumer businessses release
information in a variety of ways everyday maybe not the same information
but the consumer has more access to product information than ever whether
we are talking about window-eyes or lipatoror governmental affairs.
Window-eyes is much easier for me to get information about than many other
devices like the braille note apex for example. Maybe because they don't
share as well maybe because I'm just not as familiar with what they put
out and they do too have a mailing list or two at humanware.
Taking the consumer viewpoint doesn't necessarily require one to take a
stance in oppositionto the business or it's representatives.
I might scream with you about browse mode or I might not but on the issue
of twitter as you can see by previous posts I think twitter and facebook
are a win/win situationfor the consumer, the general public, exchange with
other software and hardware companies and for gw-micro.
These outlets increase awareness inform consumers and teach society as a
whole and promote inclusion in all aspects of life.

Again, another apologetic. How about taking the position as a
consumer? GW Micro staff makes its money by producing products which are
used by consumers...that is you and I. Do consumers not also have a
limited amount of time in a day? Do you sit in front of the tv or radio
and listen to all the ness networks 24/7 or read a half dozen newspapers
in order to stay current with events? Some people may be junkies in this
respect but most are not.
You commented "...is if we're willing to spend a few minutes looking
into the situation."
So we all should take a couple minutes more to do something and let GW
Micro spend a couple minutes less to put out information?

Hi. This thread brings up an issue that to me is a problem. Some
comments have been made that it would take no time for Aaron to make
sure that emails are also sent with any kind of information. If any
busy person yields to too many of these seemingly small demands his
day's schedule would be more than full. If he takes the 30 seconds to
email he may not answser your support call quite as fast. The web
content may be delayed, when the release comes out your copy of WE may
wait as well. Oh yes, they are putting out a new version. It's not a
good idea for non involved persons to try to dictate how another busy
person uses his time. The info is there, if we use our resources we can
get it without signing up for anything, that is if we're willing to
spend a few minutes looking into the situation.

um no. he is explaining the facts of life to you. if you don't keep
up with the times you miss out. I got dragged in to twitter kicking
and screaming but now I am here I find it quite useful. you see
twitter is like any other tool use it effectively and you will get good
stuff from it use it to follow just anyone and you will get a lot of
useless information. if you find this to be the case then this means
that your not using it effectively. of course there are exceptions to
this. I followed the author of quitter because I thought this would
let me know about updates to the program. it does this how-ever he
likes to go on about all manor of other things. so in this case
effective use means that I follow him because I want some of what he
has to provide and I skip over the stuff that I don't need. another
example Skype. this is useful for finding out what is going on with
Skype but they publish from time to time a feel good story that doesn't
help me much.
now the gw micro tweet is wonderful. every pece of information posted
was useful in some way. so twitter is not bad at all it just needs to
be used effectively. and it works good with quitter and window-eyes.
have not done the face book thing. can anyone give me a good reason
for doing so. if so how well does it work with window-eyes. tried
myspace and hated it.

If you don't use Twitter, that's fine. No one expects you
to. But you also lose out on the information being presented
through our Twitter feeds. That's just how it works. If you
don't use it, you don't get the information. As I mentioned,
if something is really important, we post to all of our
lists. This was not that important.
