Just out of interest, are you using WE 7.5 beta? I'm not using the beta, I'm using WE 7.2 and I'm not getting the symptoms that you're reporting.
Yep, I have had times where "browse mode" has enabled itself when replying to a message but these occasions are very rare and I've found that relaunching WE seems to fix the problem, another useful fix I've found is a redraw of the screen. I can only hope that access to Thunderbird using WE improves, other Screen Readers have the edge here like NVDA which is an open source project.
