I do know that works, I wanted to know why IE 8, running under vista (or at
least on my pc with vista, maybe it's something I've done on this pc), will
sometimes not play mp3 files, but only let you download them, and tell you
the default application for them can't play them and thinks they're possibly
corrupt.

anyone ever seen this when trying to play my, or any, mp3 files?  got any
ideas?

I don't know if this helps, but you can try downloading it using the "save
target as" feature in the context menu.
