Bill,

Sonar works reasonably well so far as the built-in features are concerned, but the plugins that come with it could stand some scripting because most require heavy use of the mouse. Some effects, like Z3ta and Dimension Pro, can be used by clicking on the icons to load banks and patches with the mouse. Others, like Beatscape and Guitar Rig, are not accessible at all. If you want to use Sonar, also be sure to use 8.5 as Cakewalk broke a lot of keyboard-accessible functionality in the new X1 version. Reaper is usable with the Rea-Access plugin (sorry, I don't have the URL here). Coming from a Sonar background, I find Reaper's interface rather unconventional, but there are blind musicians who swear by it now.

We have done no testing with ProTools for Windows so are unsure of where things stand in terms of accessibility.

Regards,
Steve

Well I've always been a hard disc recorder user--that is since digital
started, but am thinking of moving to the computer. Where are we in this
world of Swindow-eyes and PC Apps such as Sonar, Protools for the PC and
things like Reaper?
Do a bunch of muso types need to band together to pay for scripting?
I don't, and won't go over to Jaws, and would rather use a mac than
that. haha I feel like the Mac is taking over with this stuff and really
would like a real rock solid alternative mostly glitch free alternative
to having to take my I love Steve Jobs pill every day. (tongue firmly
planted in cheek)
Ideas?
Bill
