No one is calling you stupid. And by the way, blind and stupid are not mutually exclusive. Since you make reference to, "the," Security Tab, there must be only one. I am using Firefox 3.6.17 and I have gone to the Security tab. There is no Check Box or any control whatsoever within that tab to disable Firefox from checking for Security updates unless it is not visible to Window-Eyes. I have read the entire window using the Mouse Pointer; I have tabbed through the entire sequence of Check Boxes etc. and Window-Eyes does not utter a single word that suggests one might disable checking for security updates. Perhaps my Window-Eyes settings are such that Window-Eyes just isn't speaking this magical control? Perhaps the two of you are on "different pages?" I'm no expert on Firefox, but my guess is that security updates usually cause an increment in the version number and hence would show up when Firefox checks for Firefox updates.
