Tony,

The enhancements include features like built-in compression, EQ, room effects, bass boost, etc. While they may be nice when watching movies or listening to music, the side effect is that the computer buffers about half a second of audio so the effects can be applied. Thus, the audio you hear is delayed instead of being passed immediately to your sound card. Disabling enhancements turns the buffering off which is why you are seeing better responsiveness with software speech.

None of your audio-related applications will be compromised by disabling the effects. In fact, they should work much better.

Regards,
Steve

Hi guys,
I disabled the audio enhancements and we is more responsive.
I have a question although. I would like to know what the enhancements
are that are being disables and if they will effect the playback of any
audio files or HD videos, or the 5.1 surround sound?
Just want to know, if it does I can always enable when playing such files.
