Louis,
You would need to find out what sound card is on the machine, download
the latest driver from its manufacturer, and install it. Windows
includes the ability to search Microsoft's database for drivers, but
this is always hit or miss.

Steve

Steve, I am using Dectalk and it workds fine. The only software I have
uninstalled from the computer is Nortan Internet Security. Should I
update sound drivers? How would I go about this if I should?

Subject: crackling speech
Hello folks. On my new laptop the speech is sometimes choppy or
crackles on some words. I am using eloquence. Is it a Window Eyes
issue or do I need to adjust sound settings? I tried disabling sound
enhancements but that didn't work. Thanks in advance for your help.
