According to the Humanware web site it does indicate that Window Eyes is one of the listed supported screen readers. Also, as in the list of support braille devices there is an option for braille note input, it would be logical to assume that that same functionality would exist, at least until the product does become available or either Humanware or GW-Micro can comment as to whether these features do work or not. I would also say that given that one of the primary selling features of this new display is the ability to control the computer remotely from it, I would think that Window Eyes would support this as given the devices wide range of compatibility it is likely that Humanware is using a Human Interface Device USB driver to give it generic support on many systems easily. It's basically a braille display and a braille keyboard which runs on USB and I would think it most logical that Humanware took advantage of existing industry standards in HID specifications and designed it accordingly, thus making it simpler for it to be supported by Window Eyes and others.

With respect - I think you may be slightly incorrect.

Humanware have said very publicly, in interviews on ACB Radio for example, that
they have been developing the drivers for Window-eyes. Therefore: if the
manufacturer is claiming this, it is appropriate to ask for the type of
information that I have asked for.

The Brailliant also does have input keys, so Humanware are clearly expecting
that people will want a display which has direct contracted or uncontracted
Braille entry, and it would be a bad look for Humanware and GW if this feature
is not supported at time of release.

Hum, Well since they aren't shipping for two months or more, it's hardly
surprising that no one is giving out information. It would be surprising if
they have it to give. I haven't even seen a press release from humanware.

I suspect though that you will not be able to input text at all with the
brailliant. The current model does not have a braille input keyboard, which is
the main distinguishing feature between it and the braille connect line of
humanware displays. That makes me suspect with out having seen any information
what-so-ever on a new brailliant, that it wouldn't matter what windoe-eyes
does. You won't be able to input braille because that's not the way the
hardware is designed.

Subject: The New Brailliant and Window-eyes

greetings everyone.

Hoping that someone from GW can clarify whether the new Brailliant Second
Generation will allow for direct brailed input when connected to Window-eyes?

I understand that these units begin shipping in September, and if direct
Braille input is supported on Window-eyes, I might be tempted to purchase.

I have the impression that the Second Generation will require the installation
of specific Humanware developed driver software, and this presumably means that
Window-eyes will automatically be able to identify and work with it.

All information gratefully acknowledged.

Vaughan.
