I'd advise you to take a look at the scripting classes by Chip. Not sure of the link off hand but I know it's in the audio/video archive. It starts you out with the basics and covers mor advanced topics as you progress through the classes. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stephen Clower" <[email protected]>

David,

Give the HotSpot app a look, as it was designed to address this very scenario. http://www.gwmicro.com/apps/hotspot/. An in-depth guide on using it is also available at http://www.gwmicro.com/Audio_Video_Archive/App_Tutorials/audio/HotSpot.mp3.

Hello, GWMicro et al,
I find trying to customize WE7.5.1 (and other releases too) via the app
mechanism very cumbersome, difficult, and daunting. Even the manual on
writing apps is not clear (%data%???) due to a lot of cut-and-paste
concerning description of controls, etc.

I'm trying to get WE7.5.1 on my W XP box to announce the chess moves
when running KChess Elite 4. The experience with apps is more
frustration than a pleasure. I can, however, use the same set of
keystrokes to locate and read the last move made. I have another
program, a text editing program called Epsilon, that allows me to start
recording the keystrokes as they are made. Once I've finished with the
keystrokes, I can terminate the keystroke recording; and, optionally
name and save that "keyboard macro" for later use.

I offer the suggestion to GWMicro as an alternative to such a clumsy
mechanism as apps, no matter how powerful they may be. The
implementation of apps is beyond many a WE user. In any event, the app
manual needs correcting and updating to simplify the issue of turning WE
users into OO programmers.

Just a suggestion...
