I use the built-in rss reader in ie8.  MSFT began incorporating a feed 
reader beginning with ie7.  WE works with it fine; it is easy to use, 
update, back-up and all the other things one might expect.
There are a number of good products out there.  In this instance, it boils 
down to whatever you are comfortable with.  So try a few of the 
suggestions and see what works for you best.
I ended up with the reader in Internet Explorer after some trial and error 
and its easy updating, adding and removing feeds, and that it shows you 
more than the headline of an entry.
