Hi. I believe you're misinterpreting the meaning of the speech you're
hearing. The speak summary is telling you how many items there are in the list
as well as how many items you have selected. So, if your cursor is on an item
in your desktop or on an item in a file list you'll hear the item's name
spoken, then "1 of" xxxx selected. I did a little experiment. In Outlook
Express I held the shift key down while I hit the up arrow 4 times which
selected the 5 messages. The speak summary read all of the message items and
said that there were 5 selected. Usually you'll hear 1 selected because that's
the normal way things work unless you use methods to select multiple items.

Subject: something funny with the Speak Summary feature

  hi all
am using Window-Eyes 7.5.1; when pressing the Speak Summary hotkey
CTRL+Shift+s while on the desktop or one of my drives/folders , Window-Eyes
says the proper info , but always adds "1 of <x" where X is the number of items
present.
e.g if I'm on a folder named "audio" which is the 7th item in the list , I
hear "audio 7 1 of 20" instead of just "audio 7 of 20"; has anyone else
encountered this behavior?
  thanks a bunch
  Roy.
