Bud,

I'd call this a known problem (my words, not GW's).

Try installing the app named "kill Window-Eyes", which tries to terminate
the background services and processes which belong to WE, and if successful,
then lets you restart WE.

The app places a shortcut on your desktop, with a shortcut hotkey of
control-alt-f4, which runs a batch file which contains commands to terminate
the processes mentioned above, so it doesn't count on WE being able to run
the app.

For some reason, it works on xp for me, not on Vista, but does on Windows 7
(might be due to my vista having UAC turned on, and my Win 7 having it
turned off).

This is my suggested work around until it's fixed.

hth,

Chip

Subject: wineyes stop speaking

Hi Gang,

Quite often right in the middle of something wineyes will just stop speaking
and I can't do anything short of rebooting to get it back.
The keyboard still is functional though. I can reboot it with a silent
keyboard and I can start NVDA. While NVDA is on I press control alt W to
try to turn wineyes and NVDA says windoweyes is already running. Any
thoughts? Latest version of wineyes and
windows 7 64 bit. Am using dectalk, but have for years without this
problem.
Thanks.
