Not exactly apples-to-apples. If I'm correct, Read Easy, SARA, etc, are stand-alone reading machines. One button, and they scan and convert to speech simultaneously similar to those antiquated Kurzweil Reading Machines.
It's my guess these machines are mainly purchased by public institutions. I use an $80 Canon scanner from Staples with Omnipage and Window-eyes which works very nicely for me.
