Hi Chip
Wouldn't ya know it, I asked for an explanation of ShowHiddenDivs0 and
1, and the very next email i saw was yours with the explanation, so that
was great timing! Anyways, thanks for the explanation.

Sorry all, my bad here, you can change the control left/right arrow hotkeys
the "select text" app defines, so that you'll be able to use the word
navigation. they can be changed in the hotkey manager of the app, so I'll
change my comment just to point out that these are set this way by default.

Hi Nevile,
very strange about the email errors, but thanks for continuing to try until
you got me the message.
Yes, I knew about this app, but since I wanted to add placemarks to my Word
app anyway, it was not much more effort to add the ability to do the
selection of text (and it keeps someone from having to locate and install
another app).
I just checked the comments of the "select text" app you mentioned, and I
see that one problem with it is that it redefines the control left and right
arrow keys, so they no longer navigate by word. (this is something I like
to use, and there's no way to get the app to stop doing this).
I'd like to take a second to recommend the use of the comments feature of
the appGet (and app central). They are very very useful for communicating
these small but important warnings between ourselves, and it is of course
one way of offering feedback to the author.

Thanks for your detailed explanation Chip. At this stage I'll leave the
setting as it is and see what happens.
I just sent you a message regarding an existing WE app called "select text"
or similar which will do the same as you plan for Worde. This app has been
around for some time and will work in applications like Word, Notepad and
the like.
I received the message back because it had permanent fatal errors so hoping
this one makes it.
No, it did not make it so am sending it to the WE list this time.
Neville.

Hi Neville,
As Steve and others have mentioned, you may see some text of web pages
which really isn't meant to be seen (there's a way of having a bunch
of different text messages ready to be displayed, and the page will
choose which one it wants displayed based on the conditions of the
moment). when this parameter is set to 1, you may see all of these as if
they were being displayed.
when it's set to 0, you won't see any except the one you're meant to
see, but then sometimes, there's text only displayed if you can hover
your mouse over the right spot to cause it to be displayed; in this
case, you won't see this text either.
I'm sure they're working on a more robust permanent fix, but as
someone said, this is an interim release (done at no charge), and I
suppose they wanted it out fast.

Hi,
What changes can I expect if the line
ShowHiddenDivs=0
is changed to
ShowHiddenDivs=1
I haven't noticed any great difference in web sites with the new
version but must admit that not too many have been tried as yet.
Thanks
Neville.
