I have been trying out the Digital Editions app with a couple of books. One is "Cosmos Culture," a free book in PDF format that I downloaded from NASA. The other is "Kings of the North," a book in ePub format that I downloaded from Overdrive. When trying Read-to-End in both books, reading starts, continues for a while and then stops, as if I had pressed Escape. Just before reading stops, I hear a line spoken from later in the book. If I try to resume reading, I find that material has been skipped. The Help for the app states that reading will not resume from where it stopped when Escape is pressed. It seems that this also happens when reading stops on its own. Also, I have noticed that the word "document" is spoken occasionally during reading.
I am using Window-Eyes 7.5.2 with all updates on a Windows 7 64-bit system with Digital Editions Preview 2. I downloaded the accessible adobe ditital editions program. I can read a book line by line by arrowind down but that is all. I read the getting started section, but all of the commands it mentions does not work. Control R is supposed to make it read, but it just says R. It seems like those commands are for sighted people anyway. Could anyone tell me how I could get info on the hot keys that would work so that I could read books using those? Thanks very much.
