Hello all, but especially GW Micro support

After upgrading to Wineyes 7.5.2 I upgraded to ThunderBird 8. I have the latest TB app and set file running, but I experience problems when opening messages. I'll try to explain as clearly as possible what happens.

The method I use to read messages, is to arrow down the list of messages in the inbox. When I come across one I want to read, I press enter, else I delete it or press down arrow to look at the next. In earlier versions of TB this worked fine, but now in TB8, when I press enter to open a message, nothing is read and the message seems not to load into the browse bode buffer and yes, I have it set to load automatically. As soon as I either press tab or press Alt twice (to open and close the File menu), the message loads into the browse mode buffer. You will agree that this is not a convenient way to read e-mail. I have tried all kinds of settings, but have not succeeded in fixing this problem

I have TB currently set to open new messages in a new tab. I have tried the other two options, to open a message in the same window or in a new window. Both the other two options lets messages load into the browse mode buffer as soon as I press enter to open the message, but there is then so much chatter that it just isn't worth the bother. The title bar, menus, from, to and all that stuf is read before the message.

Do you have any idea what might be wrong, what I might try?. I have tried uninstalling TB and doing a clean install of it again, but no change.

I am experiencing the issue described above whether or not the app and set file are active.

A few days ago Jacques Stassen asked a number of related and pertinent questions on the list about TB8 and WE 7.5.2 issues, among others, which mode is recommended, to open messages in a new tab, a new window or the same window; he also asked about the pesky message about the preview window opening which, if I am lucky enough to get a message to open, I also hear, although the preview window is not open. He mentioned the fact that the Alt-1, Alt-2, etc. commands are flakey at best and I find the same.

I would also like to hear the replies to Jacques's questions, but thus far the silence from GW Micro about these matters has been deafening.

I hope we can get some clarification and help on these issues, please.

Kind regards

Christo
