Hello,
When you get a computer brand new it is very likely that the sound
will already be unmuted and at least turned up to some degree. When it
boots you can press windows key with u to launch the easy of access
center, then alt with n to start narator or just wait for it to prompt
you to press space then enter to start narator. You can use that to
install Window Eyes and set everything else up you need to do.
As for the disabling of additional affects in Windows, I believe
GW-Micro has an article on their site for this, though some sound card
features will be different depending on the manufacturer.
