off topic question about apple products

Sorry.  I found out yesterday that someone recorded a meeting on the 
I-touch.  can you do that with the I-phone or the I-pad?  I need to have a 
recorder for meetings and I wish I could get a new computer.  I thought 
about just doing something like that if it would work.  Wonder what would be 
the most practical with the least expense.  Thanks.
