Hi all,
Just to let you know, there are some products that I'd recommend you not try
right now with Window-Eyes or any other screen reader for that matter. I was
just messing around with the beta of Team Foundation Server 11 (yeah I know,
I'm very strange. No. I'll actually need build configuration for a project in
the future, and I plan to use my server for it.) Well Team Foundation Server
configuration is very inaccessible but intuitive if only it worked. For
instance, it uses WPF, and all WE can do is read the name of the control rather
than what it says, so clicking onto the right configuration screen to install a
feature is a trip in itself. I had to guess a couple of times till I hit the
right configuration screen (TFS basic.) Then when scrolling through the
screens, only parts of it are read out at all, so it's impossible to reclass
the window if one doesn't know what the control is supposed to be, right? Well
anyway, that's that. Then there were a couple of radio buttons, and I can only
reach one of them. The other is unreachable, or seemingly unreachable. It was
horrible, so I gave it up. Yeah, really great job on Microsoft's part for
designing it that way. I'm definitely going to bring this concern over to the
accessibility individuals over there, because this is driving me crazy. We
techies should have equal access to uncommon applications as sighted
individuals do. Anyway, just to give a warning for those inclined to mess with
that kind of stuff. I can only imagine what the client side of VS 11 beta will
be like LOL.
