If you haven't gotten a response to your question, you might want to update it with which version of WE and PowerPoint you are using. It's possible your professor is putting image files on to the slides, although that seems unlikely. You might also try the trick I really like for PowerPoint slides with a lot of text content. In my version of PowerPoint (XP and 2003), you can go to the save as dialog box and save the slides in "outline" form. This saves them as an RTF file that you can read in Word. I did this a lot in grad school. It doesn't keep the images and I do not recall what it does with text boxes, but it can work well for some presentations.
