Hi Jed:
I don't know what's happening to cause that problem, but I can tell
you how to get around it if you want to reply to a message.
First, you press the Alt key to go to  the menu bar.  Then press the
left arrow key until you get to Actions, then arrow down to Reply and
press the enter key.
