I've experienced this "about blank" problem a few times too and haven't been able to figure it out. Sometimes a reboot works and sometimes it doesn't. And it always goes back to normal the next day. So perhaps a cold boot is what's really needed. It's been too long for me to remember if I've tried that. But it just seems to come on for no apparent reason and never lasts more than a day.

Also, the set files are not associated in the normal fashion; they're controlled by the app. So if you're not running that app you should associate Thunderbird.set with the main window, Thunderbird_write.set with the composition window, and ThunderbirdSpl.set with the spell checker.

Tom

For some reason, I am no longer able to read anything in a written
message. It does not matter whether the message is new or a reply. I
have turned off autoload and browse mode. At this moment, I can use the
mouse keys to find my place and left click on a letter to gain focus for
editing, but if I use any of the arrow keys, I only get a ding and no
speech. This is a new message, obviously. I have tried installing the TB
enhanced app, but get nothing different. By pressing ctrl-numpad5, the
speech says "about blank". I am sorry for the rambling, but I can't go
back and edit the previous text very well. I have tried to reassociate
the writethuderbird.set file with the writing message window and am just
not having any success. Thank you for any suggestions.
