Hi Dave, I think you must be missing something. Maybe it's the getting started document that isn't accessible. I never did read the thing. Just grabbed my first book and ran away with it. So far I've taught the DE1.8 preview for a window-eyes user, two jaws users, and a mac user with voiceover. I've tested here with window-eyes and NVDA on the windows side and voiceover on the mac side, and found it to be polished and not at all betaish. So far my only complain't is that the mac version choked, spluttered and passed out trying to monge the 14 megabyte microsoft project 2010 for dummies missing manual textbook I loaded in there.
Come to think of it, I haven't tried that book in IBooks yet. I wonder if that would be enough to explode my old ITouch so that I can have an IPad. :D Anyhow, if there is anything I can do to help you get this up and running, please let me know.
