Silence? I replied to your message and told you what you needed. Your
choice, but to just give up and make a general statement like none of the
screen readers are any good is a bit harsh, and untrue.

Subject: big thanks
Once again, i'd like to say a big thanks to all of you who have been of
assistance to me.
Unfortunately, because of multiple, and costly computer problems,
indifference on the part of computer users, not those on this great
group but others, and the cost of using the internet, I'll be shutting
things down at the end of the month.
Having said that i wish to make some observations.
It seems these days, there is a calous indifference on the part of many
experienced computer users toward newbies. We're often told, "just
mess around with your computer, and you'll learn.
For some who have a natural nack for computers, this is probably good
advice. But when you get along with computers poorly, and the
frustration level is high, more assistance is needed. If you are an
experienced user of computers, please have a heart. I remember the
good old days back when cb radios abounded, folks, let's bring those
days back, and be more helpful, let's can the tudes.
Furthermore, I feel that microsoft, and apple are on a campaign to make
computers more, and more inaccessible to the blind. With the
proliferation of touch screens, blind people are having increased
difficulty with using computers, let alone home appliances.
Lastly, and most surprisingly, I'm finding even screen reader
manufacturers to be indifferent.
I attempted to contact gw micro regarding their webinars in one
respect. Generally, I found the webinars themselves to be the best
i've ever seen. But suddenly, i came to a roadblock. I had no
knowledge of pdf's, what i needed to read them, and how to use the
software. Attempts to obtain information were met with silence. It is
my conclusion that help is not forthcoming.
I also observe as a list member that everyone is having trouble with
their screen readers. This leads me to believe that none of them are
any good. Therefore, i'm getting myself out of this whole mess. Thanks.
