regarding the insert t issue, try hitting control alt 0 and then try insert t
again. The insert key layout was probably enabled

Subject: Certain Keyboard Commands Won't Work With Window-eyes 8.0 Beta 2

Hi. To keep the subject line shorter, I will try my best to explain what is
happening when trying common keystrokes with Window-eyes 8.0 beta 2 under
Windows 8.

For example, when I press insert-a, I hear speak all on or off which is what I
expect to hear. Yet, when I press the key combination of insert-s regardless
of which keyboard I use, I hear speak all on or off as well. So, insert-s
won’t bring up the system tray. Also, insert-tab won’t bring up the list of
links on a web page.

Now that I have determined that certain Window-eyes keystrokes won’t work
regardless of which keyboard I use, how do I explain the problem to Dell whose
techies are likely not to be knowledgeable about Window-eyes? Aaron tried to
explain what could be happening during a phone call, but I couldn’t explain
what he said if I tried, grin. Anybody care to jump in on this thread?
Incidentally, the keyboard that was replaced has a numlock key, but it doesn’t
have another Windows key. Thanks.

Mike M

P.S. When I press insert-t, the time is not announced. In fact, I just
pressed the insert-t keystroke, and I heard the subject of this message and
that the window was normal. I pressed the insert-t keystroke again, and the
subject of the message was read and that the window was maximized. I heard the
status of the window after I pressed alt-space-x, go figure, grin. .
